"Mountain biking has changed a lot in recent years. Bikers are becoming more experienced and the bikes more professional. Detailed target group knowledge is indispensable when planning high-quality tourism offers.

With the Mountain Bike Monitor, the Mountain Bike Tourism Forum has created the most comprehensive survey of mountain bike guests, their wishes and their needs. This year, the new edition will be published with a significantly expanded study design and, for the first time, the results of a Europe-wide survey. Stephan will give us an exclusive insight into the first results.

  • How can different target groups be optimally addressed?
  • What does the optimal bike infrastructure look like?
  • What influence does the Corona pandemic have on MTB tourism?
  • How can destinations create even better offers for mountain bikers?

About the Mountain Bike Monitor

Since 2015, the Mountain Bike Monitor has established itself as a knowledge base and strategic decision-making tool for mountain bike tourism in many destinations within the German-speaking world. With the 2018 survey, we were able to gain profound insights into the target group, their values and desires as well as their behavior.

Sinus-Milieus provide information about the values and desires of mountain bikers and are easily integrated into other studies and the specific strategies of any destination.

The results of the survey provide well-founded knowledge about the four main target groups of mountain bikers. These determine concrete offer requirements - especially with regard to infrastructure - and point to appropriate marketing approaches. Knowledge about the size of each segment makes it possible to predict demand potentials.

The MTB Monitor provides an important cornerstone, available for the first time in this form, for needs-based product development, for calculating the market potential of offers and for successfully addressing target groups.
