Chris Ball // Enduro World Series

"I was riding my mid-travel bike a lot, and I started getting into enduro racing on my weekends off. I realized there was a huge community of mountain bikers who wanted to experience the outdoors and have a bit of adventure. Even though I was working in downhill, over the years I found myself more and more on the enduro side of biking. It absolutely captivated me because it is exactly what I like to do on my own bike. I felt like there was a huge area of gravity mountain biking that could develop in a wonderful way."

Chris explains the Spirit of Enduro and what makes it tick. The founder of the Enduro World Series gives us a behind the scenes look and explains:

  • Why new stops appear on the race calendar every year
  • How he chooses new venues, what he looks for and how he does it
  • What positive impact an EWS race can have on the development of a destination
  • What potential he sees for E-MTBs, in racing & in recreation
  • How racing can make a positive contribution to the sport at large
  • ... and what exactly makes the "Spirit of Enduro"

Über Chris Ball
Chris' close connection to racing goes back many years. First as a downhill rider, then as a coach and a little later as a technical delegate of the UCI Downhill World Cup, he was always in the middle of the action. In 2013, he changed mountain bike racing forever by creating the Enduro World Series, one of the most exciting race formats to date that has became one of the most popular within the MTB cosmos. Since then, brands have dedicated entire product lines to this discipline and enduro has become an indispensable part of the sport.
